Janet Acevedo Spinning And Styling Coordinator

Janet grew up in a Puerto Rican and Italian house hold in the Bronx, where music was welcomed with open arms. She always loved to dance, but it was not until 2001, when her love and fascination of salsa blossomed. As a college student, she met Victor Mayovanex, founder of Karisma Dance Company, at a salsa lesson he was giving on campus. He identified her ability to quickly pick up steps and turn patterns and encouraged her to take lessons at his dance school. After several months of applying herself in weekly lessons and practicing, she was invited to become a part of his semi-pro female troupe, the “Karisma Princesses”, which later evolved into a co-ed team, “Imagenes De Karisma”. Not long after, she was invited to become a part of the professional team, where she taught ladies styling and performed across the country and abroad in places such as Germany, the UK and Dominican Republic, to name a few. She has graced the stage with artists such as Victor Manuelle, Don Chezina, Jerry Rivera, Jose Alberto “El Canario”, Raulin Rosendo, Joe Arroyo and Oscar De Leon. During her tenure with Karisma, she also had the opportunity to train with Shaka Brown, and performed with him in Japan and Bermuda. She most recently trained in ballroom at Dance With Me USA, the studio of Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Tony Dovoloni of ABC’s Dancing WithThe Stars. She was able to showcase her skills performing a ballroom-style cha cha routine at Manhattan Center for the production, Ballroom on Broadway. She also had the honor of performing, under the direction of Andy Cruz, at Maskim’s star-studded birthday event at Hammerstein Ballroom. Janet is excited to be a part of the Salsa On2 family and share her love of dance.
